Despite the rather pricy nature of this piece of molded plastic, I have chosen to use this product in my shop for more than 10 yrs now, about 15 hrs a week. I use it mostly for silicone caulking. It is extremely durable (been dropped many, many times), extremely light weight, easily varies the pressure, and has no clumsy plunger to interfere with movement. On the down side, it occasionally introduces air bubbles into caulking and causes it to spit air a few times while dispensing that tube. This is because it has no plunger and forces the material out of the tube with just air pressure. All in all a great product!

Roean PG 100 air caulking gun, September 18, 2002

This gun has saved the day for me. I have used it to caulk a log house, both inside and outside. It still works like new after nearly 200 tubes of caulk, never once failing.
I found that a working pressure of 20 psi, is just right for the work I am doing.

I got this unit has I've had several hand operations and can't do well with a normal caulk gun. This one is amazing, I used it to caulk seams at our 50 y.o. log cabin. I used dozens of tubes of caulk last weekend. You do need to disassemble and clean it after 30 tubes of caulk, went well and worked like a top when done. Before each tube was done it pushed out one loud pop of caulk but it was easily smoothed out. It was consistent and saved my hands. I'd highly recommend it but you do need to clean it out with some light solvent that dissolves the caulk but not the plastic/rubber.

I bought one of these from Grainger. I lengthened the air hose using same size fuel hose, and had to put a needle valve in the air line on the gun for better control of air flow. With those changes the thing works great. Lays down an even bead. I use an add-on caulking tip with a 1/8 inch hole. With this gun I can lay a bead down that you can't see to cover baseboard-to-wall and door frame cracks. Different caulks will push out very differently so you need fine air pressure and flow control. I use about 5 psi air pressure and the needle valve open only a small amount to lay down Polyseamseal All-purpose caulk, which is quite soft. An on-unit air regulator and 10 ft hose sure would enhance it's ease of use. Taking all things into account, I'm glad I got it.

A real joy to use..., January 31, 2007

It's too bad this item is no longer offered here - it can transform a high-volume caulking or adhesive job from a chore into a pleasure. It seems a little expensive, and it's probably impractical to haul hoses around for minor caulking jobs, but if you have the right application, it's a godsend.

One of the nicest aspects of it is that it is so clean and simple - just air pressure pushes the back end of the tube and nothing really gets caulk on it. It's best if you have your pressure regulator (you really need one for this tool) near where you're working so you can fine-tune delivery as necessary.

To tell you the truth, I owned this tool for quite a while before I ran across an application for it. I guess I could've used it when caulking windows etc., but at the time it seemed easier just to grab a regular caulk gun.

This winter I had a job that involved long beads of construction adhesive over and over again. In the 30 something degree temperatures at the site, squeezing tube after tube of the thick material was starting to take it's toll on my forearms. Luckily I had compressed air available, so I pulled this thing out to see what it can do.

What a difference! Now I look forward to the application chore - it's more of a break than a chore now - just a gentle squeeze and go as fast as you can while keeping your bead straight. I think this is the best application for this tool - lot's of volume and in a location where air hoses are easily available. The squeeze gun is still probably better for jobs that are less accessible and where precise control is important.

Hand and time saver!, August 3, 2011

This review is from: Caulk Master PG100 1/10th Gallon Cartridge Air Caulking Gun (Tools & Home Improvement)
I recently used this to install a radon / vapor barrier in a crawlspace. I used Sonolastic NP-1 caulk, which is incredibly think and hard to push with a hand pump gun. With a normal leverage hand gun, I had to use two hands to get it out. I considered buying a higher leverage gun, but then stumbled upon this device while searching for an easier way. I have to run it maxed out at 70psi for the sonolastic NP-1, and have so far fed over 30 tubes through it without a single problem or incident, save for the occasional air bubble pop that other reviews have mentioned. But those really were not any problem since I was not worried about the appearance of the bead for what I was doing, I just backed up slightly and made sure the bead was continuous. Also, since I was running pretty much full tubes at a time, I noticed something else impressive about this type of tool, it really only uses air when you release the trigger and it releases air pressure from the gun, the operating demands are actually very small. I could easily run through a full tube without releasing the trigger until it was empty, and at least half or more of the second tube before my small portable twin stack air compressor even kicked on to recharge. This is VERY low air consumption in constant operation. Very easy to operate off of just about any compressor you got. And made in the USA. What is not to like?

Caulk Master PG 100, February 15, 2012

Perfect! This caulk gun performed perfect. Very easy on the hand. It took me around a tube of caulk to get the air pressure correct and get use to it. Made the slow process go much quicker. It is a little hard to reload new tubes....has a very strong spring so I had to hold it on the floor and push the new tubes in with both hands. This is a very small price to pay for the end result. I would recommend the product to anyone doing a lot of caulking. I am not a professional builder or painter. I am doing some of the work on a new house I am building and put 24 tubes through it the first day. Great tool!

I hooked it up to my air tank and finished caulking my entire bathroom in under an hour. Combine this tool with the caulk knife of your choice and you will make very quick work of any bathroom or kitchen caulking project.

As a side note, Make sure you pay attention to the pressure restrictions/recommendations. My buddy borrowed the gun from me and made a pretty big mess before adjusting his regulator.
