BIG difference, January 6, 2008

This shower head filter has made an enormous difference on my skin and hair. I have terrible eczema and extreme dry skin in the winter--I can't tell you how much money I have spent in my life on body wash, moisturizers, etc. But I think all along my biggest problem was the quality of the water. Now I hardly use any moisturizer and can actually use BAR soap...if you have dry skin or eczema, you should know what a coup this is! I can also see a HUGE difference when I take a shower elsewhere, like visiting my mom's--it feels like I have an itchy sweater on when I don't use the filter!

This is a great filter, just make sure you buy the showerhead to go with it. It does a fantastic job of filtering out the chlorine, and it lasts for quite a long time. If it does begin to clog, you can simply reverse the filter to flush it out which makes it last even longer.

A must for city water, July 23, 2007
By
J. Woolf (Florida)

In my municipality, the water is chlorinated pretty heavy. When I took hot showers, my skin would itch and breathing all the chlorine steam was no good either. I have been using this product for 2 years now and think it is great. If you can't afford or install a whole house filtration system, than this is for you. Of course you need the head to go along with it.

Length:: 0:46 Mins

Just watch how much dirt it blocked from getting to my skin, used it for about 3 months and now is when the water pressure has gone down, because of the filter's capturing.

I'm Sold, March 16, 2010

This review is from: Culligan WHR-140 Replacement Shower Filter Cartridge for WSH-C125, HSH-C135, ISH-100 Shower Units (Tools & Home Improvement)
I initially approached this purchase with a lot of skepticism, but I figured at its cheap price it wasn't much to lose. But after reading some of the reviews on this site I was hopeful that there would be some benefit. For me the difference is night and day. We have very chlorinated water where I live, and it has caused bad eczema flare ups. All the lotions and prescription creams couldn't contain the flareups, but this little thing has all but eliminated them. I'm totally shocked how effective it is at removing chlorine. The only negative I would say is that these only seem to last about a month for me until I start seeing symptoms again, but I'll gladly pay $14 a month for healthy skin. Can anyone else comment on how long these last for you?

EFFECTIVE FOR MY PURPOSES AND SITUATION, November 27, 2011

idget "mellowde" (West Texas)
This review is from: Culligan WHR-140 Replacement Shower Filter Cartridge for WSH-C125, HSH-C135, ISH-100 Shower Units (Tools & Home Improvement)
First off I want to qualify my review. It is based on personal experience with this device. I have over 40 years experience in water treatment but that aside I am basing this on my own personal experience. While I know that some filtration devices may work better in some situations than others, for me this device is actually effective. Chlorine as well as other minerals are factors in causing skin irritation in shower water. Reduction of these can be effective. Personal experience using this device is much more reliable than field testing as a result. Laboratory testing can produce more comprehensive data but is rarely done due to expense. I've seen devices sold to unsuspecting buyers using over the counter spot test kits which don't tell the whole story. If you are satisfied with the results of this device that is the most effective test available. Removing some minerals may actually cause nagative results where other unknown agents are present and unfiltered. I read a review here on Amazon where a spot test was done for chlorine. I repeat such testing is highly ineffective in determining overall water quality. This type of filter device can only be so effective at such a price and in such a small package. That said, this can still be an effective device for some users depending on the water at their location as well as their personal body chemistry. In short if you are feeling better after using this product than you should continue to use it. If you experience no difference than perhaps you should choose another device. The most effective device for total water filtration is of course one tha removes nearly all minerals and chemicals such as reverse osmosis or distillation. Most will find those alternatives cost prohibitive, though.

For my own situation this device works well and although it is not perfect it does provide adaquate results. I recommend trying it to see if you have similar results. To qualify my review however I want to say if you are not satisfied it may not mean the device is defective but just not appropriate for your situation.

bought with inline filter - very pleased, April 16, 2009

My husband suffers from very dry skin, being Scandinavian originally from Minnesota. Living in Florida where I come from, I am used to the high levels or chlorine in our city water. As I grew older I noticed significantly drier and itchy skin, almost to the point of my skin bleaching to an ashy color. My husband told me it was the chlorine and if we could do something about it. Well, I found this product on Amazon and read the reviews. A person living in Miami, where I came from, gave such a good review, I decided to buy it. Today I received it in the mail and installed it on our new shower head. My husband told me his skin felt soft and not itchy. and his blonde hair is not dull! We are very pleased with this product!

Great Addition to the Household!!!, July 30, 2008

Straight to the point:

Main reason I got this filter was for my baby amazon birds (parrots) as they shower with me. I notice a big difference in their feathers; they are more shiny and soft as there isn't any residue of chlorine when they dry.

I have also notice the difference in my skin. My shoulders, arms (elbows mainly) and hands used to get very dry, but not anymore. I do recommend this filter t anyone with similar situations as mine, or purposes.

Oh, by the way....it is very easy to install.

Cheers,

Does NOT do what it's supposed to do!, August 17, 2011
By

This review is from: Culligan WHR-140 Replacement Shower Filter Cartridge for WSH-C125, HSH-C135, ISH-100 Shower Units (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've been using the showerhead with Culligan Filter for over three years thinking it was successfully filtering chlorine which is bad for us. I've been dutifully replacing one cartridge after another knowing the chlorine in the water coming out of the showerhead was reduced 95%-97% according to their claims. Now I know IT IS NOT SO. I never questioned the shower filter but I bought a kit to test the level of chlorine for our tap water and a bathtub to see what I can do about it. I use these drops that turn the water yellow (different intensity) depending on the level of chlorine. Our filtered drinking water showed no chlorine and a regular tap water showed a certain color yellow. Just out of curiosity I also tested the water coming out of a filtered showerhead with the new filter I just put in. I bought the filter through Amazon and just arrived today, the same day I am writing this review. The water was as yellow as a regular tap water which means a lot of chlorine almost NO REDUCTION. I let the water run for some time since some new filters need to soak first for better performance but I ended up with the same results, very intense yellow color. This is actually very frustrating. I hope the filter was new though I bought it through Amazon and they do not reveal the supplier. Anyway, I'll be looking for a different, more efficient filter to get rid of chlorine. I guess there is only one way to evaluate the filter - to test it. Please take the trouble and test your water.

It's a good filter and makes the water softer. I just wish the filter
could be permenant or at least last a full year so I don't have to buy so many filters for everthing all time.
