drip free and super light, October 4, 2006

If you are used to the standard run-of-the-mill hand powered caulk guns you will really like how this Black and Decker tool prevents the oozing of caulk when you stop pulling the trigger. It works well for those times when you are trying to put down a smooth bead that doesn't need to be dressed-up with a wipe of the finger afterwards. The speed of the caulk flow is probably not ideal for those real big jobs, but for normal jobs around the house it sure beats the old metal frame manual guns even though the CG100 is nearly as light in weight.

Excellent for what it is., November 9, 2006

Just finished a job that got bigger as I went on, ended up laying down a half mile of caulk. Had I known I would have gone pneumatic, but that's the way it is.

Purchasing this unit for what seemed to be a small job in a cramped space made sense, but as the job grew I wondered if it could hang. After a week of pushing it beyond its design limits I would recommend it wholeheatedly. It burns AA batteries, 4 at a time and seems to average maybe 8 to 10 tubes of 10 oz. caulk on a set.

It's light and I had no fatigue as you might find in a typical rechargeable model. Changing tubes was pretty easy, once I remembered the orientation of the basket. I would recommend making a large dark mark for alignment, but you learn pretty quickly anyway and can tell by the threads in the barrel. Same with the batteries, the way the contacts in the handle are made, it's easy to see "+" and "-"

The tube piercing wire attached to the basket started to pop off after a few days and gets harder pressed to stay put as the unit accumulates slag.

If you have a job more than half a squirt but not big enough to justify hauling a compressor on-site, this is the model.

Too little power to handle polyurethane sealant, December 29, 2006

Due to its limited power (6 volts), it is excruciating slow in applying polyurethane sealant which is very viscous. Knowing what I know now, I would have purchased Pro-Quality 12 Volt Cordless Caulking Gun, a 12-volt cordless gun at comparable price.

Drip Free, Reduces Arm Fatigue, September 27, 2007

This product is truly impressive for the home user. Its light weight and easy-to-press-and-hold trigger helps reduce arm fatigue. A great buy for women or those with joint problems or low arm strength. Also recommended if you have a significant amount of caulking to do around the house; this product will reduce your task time. The two-speed options makes it easier to control the amount of caulk and get a smoother, more consistent line. The instructions are clear, and it was a breeze to assemble. It really is drip-free just like they advertise. Slightly pricey but worth the expenditure. Now I don't have to rely on my husband to do the caulking and can do it on my own!

Excellent Product, April 5, 2008

I have never caulked anything. My husband does a horrible job caulking. I decided that I would have to take over this task. I researched and found this item and decided to try it based on previous reviews. It was fabulous!!! I just did my first caulking job and I am IMPRESSED!!! Maybe, just maybe, my husband could even do a good job with this tool!! I did invest in rechargeable batteries and would like a piece that extends the end for tight corners. I'm not sure they make such a thing, but I will look after I finish this review.

Work's Great, October 17, 2007

I was skeptical about buy this inexpensive caulk gun, but, I was pleasantly surprised. It works very well and is easy to use. Since I have a lot of rechargeable AA batteries, I used them instead of the included alkaline batteries. I only had a small job but I quickly got used to it. The no drip instant stop works well and avoids wasted material and mess. Also, the little plunger that goes into the caulk tube also remained clean after using it. In fact, I had no cleanup after the job.

Polyurethane caulk, April 30, 2008
By

I was a little concerned when one of the reviews suggested that it is not powerful enough for polyurethane caulk. I was thinking of returning the unit. But then I gave it a try anyway. To my surprise, it worked really well with the DAP polyurethane concrete and mortar filler. It is fun to see how uniform the caulk could be with the caulk gun.

powered caulking gun, December 28, 2007

This caulking gun is helpful for tendonitis. My husband is a glazier. He likes the idea but finds it difficult to "feel" the caulk. He cannot control the amount. Says he will keep it for quick small jobs, but cannot use it daily with his windows, etc.

Not Bad but Could Use a Few Tweaks, May 30, 2008

I HATE caulking so this tool was right up my alley. I've used it on a few projects and I'm generally satisfied -- it's pretty well balanced, you can move pretty quickly, lay down a good bead and finish up even a lengthy job without a cramped hand. And, it is hugely less expensive than the contractor guns and doesn't require over-sized tubes of caulk. However, the battery life is pretty short, it takes a while to get the flow going in a new tube and -- and this may be just a personal quirk -- the thing has a tendency to throb in your hand that kinda creeps me out. I'd still recommend it but I'm looking forward to a new and improved model someday.
