GREAT FLASHLIGHT!, November 16, 2009
By

This review is from: Dorcy 41-4750 180 Lumen High Flux LED Cyber Light Flashlight with Batteries (Tools & Hardware)
A 180 lumen spotlight/flashlight. It lights up your whole bedroom, or hallway on the way to the bathroom at 2:00am! Very Bright. DON'T LOOK AT THE LIGHT!!!
Light weight, fits the hand good. I wanted a flashlight that did not need bulb replacement, this one has a "forever bulb". I wanted a flashlight that uses AA, this uses 4 AA and has a 5 hour run time. In a 4 day outage it should last if used conservatively.
For me it is a perfect flashlight/spotlight.
Instructions on installing batteries is non-existent and hard to figure out. The black bottom UNSCREWS! and the batteries go in two positive inward, and two positive outwards. There are little TINY pictures that show which way so look carefully.
All in all a 5/5 and a good deal to boot!! With another small item, free shipping is available.
Edit: Bought in Nov, 09. Now Apr, 2010. Still on original batteries, with no recharge! Not as bright of course, just a noticeable tad less, but still bright enough for indoors, and still shines across the street, real good. Real good for a 5 hour continuous run time. Best flashlight on the planet, my humble opinion. Why do you think 12 people, so far, give it 5 STARS?!?!?! It is AWESOME!!

EDIT: Now is Nov. 10, 2010. I have used this flashlight nearly every day for the last year, on the ORIGINAL batteries without recharging them. I wanted to see what this baby could do! It is not as bright of course, but still bright enough for indoors. Outside I can no longer make out colors across the street in the dark, nor illuminate the farthest street sign 2 blocks away, nor the trees on the next street. But close up is still good and in the house is fine, still lights up my bedroom when shined on the ceiling! About 1/2 or less than brand new. Will now use my Rechargeable AA's, and keep them charged, so will always be bright. Best Flashlight I have ever owned.

Excellent Flashlight, February 21, 2010

Best designed flashlight I've seen. Squared off sides so it sits on surface without rolling. Switch easy to access and use, positive on and off. The yellow color makes it easy to find when it's dark enough to need a flashlight. I'm amazed at the number of flashlights that are black. The hand grip is comfortable. AA batteries cost the same but have 4 times the capacity of AAA's. And it is BRIGHT.

Great flashlight, March 19, 2010

This review is from: Dorcy 41-4750 180 Lumen High Flux LED Cyber Light Flashlight with Batteries (Tools & Hardware)
This flashlight is fantastic. It's very bright, with a nice white light (not bluish like some LED flashlights). The spot is very focused and long. I don't know if it's as long as it's rated, but it's very good. The spill light is also very bright and useful. Overall, the flashlight is very light and easy to hold. The switch is easy to depress. You may not be able to hammer in a nail, like a maglite, but the Dorcy is easier to hold.

I am very happy with this light. I've had several of those "1 million candle power" spots over the years, and either the bulb burns out quickly, or the battery stops holding a charge after a short while. I'm tired of the hassles. This one is a keeper.

Worth the money, June 2, 2010

It's just a flashlight, right? I thought I had lost my mind spending this kind of money on a frickin flashlight just for walking my dog, when you can get a good-enough flashlight for $2 at any local store. Well, when it arrived I was shocked. This thing turns night into day. It has an extremely bright middle area shine, and a well-lit surrounding area shine, it's just what you want. It also shines far too... Every night I use it and still can't believe how bright this thing is.

One word of warning... The stickers telling you the direction to put the batteries in are small and nearly invisible... Look closely, or you'll spend an hour wondering why your new flashlight won't turn on.

I am a real estate appraiser and have been through several flashlights, broad range of prices, trying to find a light that will help me see properties that are vacant. This light does the trick pretty well. It is light weight and has a very bright light. It is a little bulkier than I prefer, it does not fit in my pocket. But the price and the light out weigh the bulk! I have ordered six now, for all our of vehicles and other places we need to have access to a good light. I would highly recommend this light. It is at least as good and sometimes superior to ones I have paid twice or three times as much!

Very bright light, No so bright design, November 5, 2010

This is a decent flashlight, but there are design issues that kept me from going to 5 stars.

The brightness and beam are exceptional. I have a Lightstream flashlight that cost far more, and the Dorcy blows it away, no contest at all. I am very old-school about these things, but this LED technology is a vast improvement, clearly the way of the future.

Unfortunately, the Dorcy flashlight housing is cheap. There is almost no effort at waterproofing, not an O-ring in sight. The little battery stickers seem to be a complete afterthought, and the tailcap design is just odd.

If this flashlight had a standard bulb, I would expect to pay $2-3 for it, and expect it to last a year or less.

I could be wrong though. I'm in Northern Minnesota with winter rapidly approaching. Water, ice, and sub-zero temperatures. Cheap plastic does bad things at -30F. We'll see what this flashlight is really made of.

STILL AMAZED AFTER A FEW MONTHS!!, September 19, 2010

This review is from: Dorcy 41-4750 180 Lumen High Flux LED Cyber Light Flashlight with Batteries (Tools & Hardware)
We have used this every day for a couple of months (same batteries). I am now purchasing a second one as my wife has taken over this one. This should be called a spot light not a flashlight. It is amazing. I can clearly see a spotlight on a large tree from 500 ft away.

We live out in the country and have gone through/tried many flashlights. Either they are too big or too cheaply made for everyday use. We didn't want to spend a fortune so I gave this one a shot.

Before purchasing, I read the reviews and thought - ok, people like this - but since we have been using it - for the price this light is over the top. It is light, easy to hold, easy to turn on and off.

The batteries aren't put in as easy as others - but I like them being more secure than the flashlights I have to jiggle to get the beam to work because the batteries are loose.

ONLY CAUTION - don't buy this if you need multiple levels/controls of brightness - But I have found it works great from a few feet to a few hundred feet - it's just can't be turned down if you want a minimum "footprint".

Be sure to also get the SANYO rechargable batteries - excellent run time.

Very good, August 4, 2010

This is much brighter than any other led flashlight I have owned before, however it is a little bulky. I find the Stanley Led Spotlight to be much brighter but at a trade off of weight and price.

Pros-

- Runs on AA batteries, good in places with no power sources
- Brighter than most flashlights
- Weights very little
- Price is great considering the level of brightness

Cons-

- Larger than most led flashlights, mainly because of the massive head compartment
- Brighter alternatives

Overall, a good quality flashlight that is a steal for this price.

Great Outdoor Flashlight / Self-Defense Use, August 22, 2010
By
TML
This review is from: Dorcy 41-4750 180 Lumen High Flux LED Cyber Light Flashlight with Batteries (Tools & Hardware)
I "discovered" the Dorcy flashlight by reviewing online law enforcement write-ups, which picked it as a top 5 flashlight for beam strength and illumination distance. Tonight I took my dog out to a large city park (Munich's English Garden) and I was easily able to illuminate her at distances of 200+ feet. The beam remained tight and focused, enabling me to clearly see in open or wooded spaces. An added plus to carrying this light at night would be its self-defense use: this flashlight's powerful focused beam, if shined on a suspicious person, should readily confuse/disorient them, at greater stand-off distances than afforded by conventional flashlights. Easily a 5 star product (I write this review as I buy a 2nd Dorcy for in-home use).

Dorcy 180-lumin led flashlight, July 26, 2010

This led flashlight does everything it is supposed to do. I've had a number of other led flashlights as well, but this Dorcy puts them all to shame.

It's rugged and can take a good level of abuse ..even dropping, which would immediately kill other leds.

It's pretty close to being waterproof

It's unique squarish shape is very easy to hold & feels good in your hand

Well made and solid

Runs on replacable 'American style' AA batteries ..not all leds do

and to me at least ..it provides twice the light of others I've used, easilly illuminating objects 300+ away.

I've now purchased 2 of these
