Excellent product, excellent price, December 13, 2010

After looking at various infrared temperature guns I wondered what I would be missing by settling on this less expensive model. As it turns out, this product does everything I need and more.

The laser sight can be switched on or off, and the temperature gauge can be switched between Celsius and Fahrenheit. The unit operates on a 9-volt battery which was included in the package.

Temperature readings are quick and perfectly accurate. The display is bright and plenty large.

I use this to read the surface temperature of my pans when cooking on the stove, which really helps create consistent food quality and delicious meals.

I've also used it to locate potential thermal leaks around outlets on exterior walls.

The only potential downside to this product is the limited temperature range (other models offer a larger range), but frankly, I can't think of any reason why I would ever need to read temperatures higher than the capability of this unit.

Simple, easy to use, and relatively cheap. Nothing to complain about.

Great Thermometer, June 4, 2010

Easy to use. Only con is it doesn't go above 750 degrees F accurately. I use this for a pizza oven and it does the trick very well. Seems to be accurate within 4-5 degrees. Good purchase for a lower cost model.

Infrared Thermometer, February 7, 2011

This is an amazing thermometer. We manage a Bed & Breakfast Inn. For a winter special we cook a 7-course Chef Tasting Menu. We use the Infrared Gun for testing our oil before adding the shrimp. We also test the temperatures throughout the Inn - especially near all doors to make sure our floors are at an appropriate and comfortable temperature for our guests. Highly recommended!

Needs Improvement, April 14, 2011

I bought this infrared thermometer to replace an even less expensive one that I bought at Radio Shack to measure the temperature of my cat's subQ fluids. That one was all over the map. As I wait for the fluids to warm up or cool down to a cat's body temperature, I have to take a lot of readings until the fluid temp is just right. But it might fluctuate 20 degrees between one reading and the next, so I could not trust its accuracy. This one is more stable although it too can fluctuate a lot between readings only seconds apart, but it does that less often than the one it replaced. I asked someone at my computer group about this, and he said he has one that does not do that, but it cost $350. So he attributed this phenomenon to quality based on price. Just be warned that you cannot depend 100% on the accuracy of this tool. The other down side to this product is its instructions. Probably the worst written and hard-to-understand set of instructions I have ever read. First of all, the writer is obviously a Japanese person who does not know English very well, so that makes it difficult to ascertain meaning. Second, the layout is a mess, so you don't get a sense of groupings of information to use as a clue to what each part is even referring to. Overall, I'd say it is acceptable for the price, but don't expect to be hugely impressed by it. If you don't need absolute accuracy, as I do in this situation, you'll probably be happier than I am with it.

Temperature readings vary based on the type of surface. Within a tolerable range if you don't need great accuracy.

Great product for the cost. Pick a spot and you got the temperature instantly. I pretty much use it around the house to see where I'm losing heat the most. So don't really need high temperature rating.

I purchased this to check my AC and windows for the coming summer, does a great job for the price and the laser spot makes it easy to see exactly what you are measuring, also great for those ducts that at ceiling height, it give a fairly accurate reading.
Overall I'm impressed with the unit for the price
