I replaced an old 18V drill, because I got tired of paying $70 for new batteries about once a year. The Rockwell comes with a lifetime free replacement on the batteries. I called the company to find out what you have to do to get replacement batteries and was told you have to mail them your old batteries and pay shipping for the new batteries. They said shipping and handling would be $6.71 to Arizona. The customer service center is located in North Carolina. So far I love these new tools. They are not as bulky as an 18V drill and are a lot lighter. They fit in the hand comfortably. The 12V lithium batteries fully charge in 30 minutes. They both have lights that come on when you pull the trigger. The driver is an impact with a quick release bit holder and the drill has an adjustable clutch. After three weeks of occasional use without charging they still have plenty of power. I screwed two 3 1/2" #9 screws (the largest I had on hand) through two 2×4's with no problem with both the driver and the drill. I liked their heft, feel and operation. However, what really sold me was the lifetime battery program. I can't tell you how many times I would attempt to use my old cordless drill only to find it "dead". Additionally, since it was a NiCd battery it usually meant a long charge time or worse yet, no charge at all. These batteries charge quickly and retain their charge longer since they are Li batteries. I hope that I never need to replace the batteries. Sort of the same wish I had for my snow-thrower. The first order arrived damaged as the trigger on the drill was broken in transit. The box they arrived in was perfect, but I believe the battery charger which was loose in the package, hit and crushed the trigger. Both work well and have enough power for around the house projects. Only problem I've had is the placement of the reverse lever. When using the drill, the reverse lever can be touched with your finger causing the drill to lock up until the lever is pushed all the way one way or the other. This is annoying. I would definitely buy this product again. Selling point for me was the "Batteries for Life" promo - will have to wait & see how that works out when / if I finally need it. Absolutely love these tools - battery life is great & charge time is short. Impact gun has plenty of power. Only thing I see so far that I would improve would be to add a clip on the sides of the tools to be able to easily hang them from my pocket or belt when I can't easily lay them down (The comparable Porter Cable tools have such a clip). The good news is both the impact drill and cordless drill are well balanced, are comfortable to use and have little to no recoil. The carrying bag is very nice and allows you to throw in extra stuff like additional batteries and small tools. The downside is the cordless drill is a mere 1,300 rpm which is too low for drilling sheet metal. This is a good product for around the house projects that aren't too demanding.
