Love this little guy. For the price, it's fantastic. It was recommended to me by a friend, and I use it on my work table as a spot lamp. It has been great. Very, very bright for such a small lamp, and it is solidly constructed & points firmly wherever you direct it. I may get another for my desk. While it is bright, it is somewhat concentrated - does not cover a huge area. Would be good for a desk lamp as it does not take up much surface space, and I find it extremely helpful as a task light for doing detail work. There is a tiny bit of assembly required, but I am a complete moron and it only took me about a minute to "assemble" the base. I highly recommend this little lamp.

just picked one up at ikea. great little lamp- very flexy stem. good spot-focused light. i doubt anyone cares, but if i had to guess i'd say the lense bends the light out at about 60 degrees (30/side)... shine it perpendicular at a flat surface and the diameter of the light circle is slightly larger than the distance from the lens to the surface being shone upon. very distinct spot- not diffuse light.

I love this little lamp! Here in the Caribbean (where electricity costs 4-times what it did back in the states) you do everything you can to cut electric usage, and this little 4.2W LED lamp is perfect! It's quite bright for studying and also doesn't produce any noticeable heat. Assembly was easy (just screw in 2 phillips-head screws). So I ordered 3 more.

Ikea merchandise often seems to me to be suitable mostly for those whose tastes match Ikea's eccentric design philosophy, but this particular product may not be right even for die-hard Ikea fans. A few things to consider before purchasing this product:
- The gooseneck is about 19" long, meaning it's difficult to position without an unaesthetic, ungainly appearance.
- The light beam is extremely narrow. At 8" above the desk, it illuminates only a 9" circle.
- The switch is on the power cord, about 12" from the base, meaning one cannot hang the power cord off the back of the desk.
- The lamp has a wall-wart power supply.

I'm sure the product is well made, but the design is really not suitable for my own, personal workspace.

Just a few parts and a quick,10 minute, easy assembly.
On/off switch is on the cord not the base.
Looks good, the weighted base has a small footprint and it's a nice bright spot of light.
A 15" spot at 13" from the lamp.
The packaging wasn't anything special but it was up to the USPS.
Now if the lamps longevity is as good as it's looks.

This light is magnificent, especially for my usage, in almost every way.

First is the price, which is $9.99 at Ikea, absolutely a steal for what you get. Paying $20 for it online is acceptable if you are not near an Ikea, so I can understand that.

Second, it is LED. LEDs are superior not only because of their light efficiency, but also compared to CFL lamps, they don't have mercury in them, and do not emit nearly as much UV rays as CFLs do.

Third, its brightness is suitable for my usage - which is studying or doing homework while another person is sleeping in the room, it is bright enough to read by (I would say roughly 200-250 lumens, its 4.2W), yet dim and focused enough so that someone sleeping in my room would hardly notice the light. The light is mainly a spot light, which is good for reading, and it spills a bit, which is useful for anything else not requiring detail. I would say that it creates a x foot spot light around 1 foot above my desk, at a slight angle.

The switch is connected to the wire, about 6 inches away, which can be an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on how you look at it.

The neck cranes and bends well, as it does not sag much or anything after you position yet. The neck itself is made out of metal, while the rest of it is plastic.

The head does get warm while it is on, but you can still directly hold on to it for a long time without feeling uncomfortable.

The only thing I dont like about this is the design. Yes, its function. Yes, the base is compact. However, it just doesn't look very nice to me. The plastic isn't the nicest looking plastic, and the design in general is just eh. But, as I said, it works.

A quintessential Ikea product. Simple, functional, cheap, efficiently made.

This not a bad lamp and I would not have a problem recommending it. The one design flaw, in my opinion, is that the bright bulb sticks out slightly below the bulb housing. Not a big deal unless you glance in the direction of the lamp - then you get virtually blinded. If the bulb housing came down 1/4" more the light would still shine on the task or area needed, but you would not have to wear sunglasses to look in the general direction.

Overall a good lamp for the price.

This lamp stopped working after about 1 month of extremely light use. We only used it for 15-30 mins each night to read his bedtime stories. The lamp is high on a table where my son cannot get to it.

Next time I was there, I bought the exact same lamp to replace the unusable one. Same thing: about a month later, it stopped working. It would spontaneously dim then not stay on at all.

I love IKEA. Half our furniture is from IKEA. This is the only IKEA product I've ever been disappointed with.

I really like this lamp on my nightstand however the power supply sticks out a great bit from the wall. It makes it so I can't put my nightstand against the wall very well.

I dont know if its a defect in mine, but the one I bought will flicker out at random times. Normally it works fine, but its incredibly annoying when I am working and all of the sudden the light dies and starts flickering for a few seconds. Its a decent lamp when it works, good light, but the flickering happens at least once every few minutes
